About the post
I received an email with the subject line “You’ve been hired!”. It was an offer for a mentoring program.
The post starts from that case to ask how far it is worth going to get attention. For someone waiting to hear back about a job, a subject line like that is a letdown. In my writing and my clients’, I follow three principles: clarity, ethics and no needless discomfort for the reader.
